Dark Souls: Prepare to Die Edition trailer

Get ready for the eviscerating nature of Dark Souls on PC, with the Dark Souls: Prepare to Die Edition port.

Last week Namco Bandai announced that they will release a PC port of their popular, but brutally hard game, Dark Souls–up to now, Dark Souls has only unleashed its painful, yet fun, gameplay on console gamers.
Starting this August, PC gamers will get their shot at surviving — and dying, over and over  and over and over…well, you get the point — the insanity that is Dark Souls. The port, titled Dark Souls: Prepare to Die Edition, features the full original game as well as a ton of new content. Namco has been quiet on what will be in the new content, but we do know that at least three new areas and four new bosses will be available.
We can also assume that this extra content will makes its way to consoles down the line, although that has not yet been confirmed.
Originally, Namco Bandai was not going to make a PC version of Dark Souls at all. What changed their minds was a 100,000 strong petition from PC gamers that convinced the company that a viable market existed. However, there’s already some controversy due to Namco’s decision to release the port with Games for Windows Live, a move that is not well-loved among PC gamers.
For more details check out our coverage of the PC port. Dark Souls: Prepare to Die Edition is due out on August 24 for PC.
